ANTIQUE, BRONZE, 'CROWLEY, MILNER & CO.', SIGN H 12" L 41.5"

A bronze, 'Crowley, Milner & Co.', Sign H 12" L 41.5". Made by the McCoy Bronze Co. Inc. Detroit. The sign has a black ground with raised lettering and trim, with having a gold patina. Crowley was a major department store in Detroit founded in 1909. They were a high-end retailer selling luxury goods imported from Europe. Crowley was the first Detroit retailer to have an escalator in 1909. They were the first to initiate a layaway payment plan and the first to use motorized vehicles for their delivery service instead of horsedrawn carriages. This is a wonderful piece of old Detroit history.


Condition:
Some minor patina discoloration to the edges of the lettering and the trim otherwise good condition. The weight of the sign is approx. 60 to 70 pounds. TW 8-18-19
