FOUR DAGUERREOTYPES INCLUDING POST MORTEM 19TH C. H 4" W 4"
A grouping of four daguerreotypes in tooled leather cases adorned with red velvet and gilded frames. Two daguerreotypes depict a baby, one with a man and the other with a woman. One daguerreotype depicts a man, and the other depicts a dead child. Post mortem memorial photography was very popular at this time and allowed grieving families to have a permanent image of the deceased.
